Why Aren’t You Engaged?
What do you think about when you hear the word engaged? Involved? Planning to get married? Dictionary.com has the following definitions for engaged:
1. busy or occupied; involved:
deeply engaged in conversation.
2. pledged to be married; betrothed:
an engaged couple.
3. under engagement; pledged:
an engaged contractor.
4. entered into conflict with:
desperately engaged armies.
As we look at these definitions we can see how they apply even in our prayer life. When it comes to being strategic in our prayer life, we have to first be busy, occupied and involved in prayer. We cant expect things to change, if we are not consistently praying. The more time we spend in prayer the more opportunities we have to hear Gods strategy. We must remain engaged, in constant contact with God through prayer.
As believers we are called to be in relationship with God. Just like after a man and woman have developed a relationship and get engaged, our prayer life can define our level of commitment to God. True commitment involves consistent communication. We must pledge to spend time daily with God in his word and in prayer.
Lastly, prayer is a powerful weapon in warfare. Although the enemy is defeated, there are times when we must engage in warfare through prayer to enforce his defeat. If we stay busy, occupied, involved and in constant communication with God, we will be equipped to enter into the enemys camp to enforce his defeat.
So are you engaged? If not, why not? Don't let another day go by without being engaged through prayer.
